Recurring vs one-time AI affiliate commissions: what 41 published programs offer

Short answer: "Recurring" rarely means forever. Of 41 AI-tool affiliate programs with published terms, 33 pay recurring commission, but 20 of those stop after about 12 months. Only 9 pay for the life of the subscription. Just 19 of 41 state a cookie window on an official page. These figures describe published terms only, not anyone's earnings.

What this means when you pick a program
- Read the duration, not the percentage. A 12-month cap and a lifetime term can share the same headline rate.
- Match the cookie to the buying cycle. Software bought after a trial needs a window longer than the trial. "Not stated" means you can't plan around it, so ask the program.
- Lifetime attribution is a different model. Some programs tag a referral to you permanently when they sign up, rather than using a cookie window. systeme.io is one example. Its affiliate page states 60% lifetime recurring commission and lifetime attribution (terms dated April 2026).
- Check what's banned before you build traffic. Paid ads, brand bidding, coupon sites and cashback are often restricted. See how to choose an affiliate program.
Read a program's terms in 5 minutes
- Find the official affiliate or terms page, not a review site.
- Write down the rate, the duration (one-time, months, lifetime) and the cookie or attribution rule.
- Note the payout minimum, payout method and any refund or reversal window.
- List the banned traffic sources.
- Date it. Terms change, so record the date you checked.

FAQ
Is a recurring affiliate commission paid forever?
Usually not. Of the 33 recurring programs in this survey, 20 stop after about 12 months, 1 stops at 24 months, 3 don't say, and 9 pay for the life of the subscription. Read the duration line in the terms, not the headline.
What is the most common affiliate cookie window for AI tools?
Among the 19 programs that state a window on an official page, 90 days was the most common (7 programs), then 60 days (5), 30 days (4), 120 days (2) and lifetime (1). 12 programs stated no window.
Does a higher commission mean more money?
Not by itself. Duration, cookie window, refunds, payout minimums and banned traffic sources all change what a commission is worth, and many people never earn one. This page compares published terms, not results.
